Work Permit Process
You will need to enter Taiwan on a 60-day tourist visa in order to apply for the work visa. Therefore, DO NOT enter Taiwan with a 30-day automatic landing visa.
To get a 60-day tourist visa, you will need to apply at your nearest Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO). Please reference the following site for a list of Taiwanese embassies abroad.
You will need the following to apply for the tourist visa:
- a passport valid for at least six months
- an outbound airline ticket
- a bank statement with a balance equivalent to at least 2,000 USD
- two passport photos
Once you begin working, your school will submit all the necessary documents to apply for the work permit. You will also need to get a health check up after you have arrived Taiwan. You will need the results from your physical in order to apply for your work permit. You will then receive your work permit within seven business days.
Schools in Taiwan will not apply for your work permit until you have begun working.
After you have your work permit, you will then obtain your resident visa and finally your ARC (alien residency certificate).
